Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX (初音ミク Project mirai でらっくす Hatsune Miku Project mirai Derakkusu?, lit. Hatsune Miku Project mirai Deluxe), is an enhanced re-release of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2, released for the Nintendo 3DS on 28 May 2015 in Japan and South Korea, 8 September 2015 in North America, and 11 September 2015 in Europe. The game marks the first time a title in the Project Mirai series was localized for the Western region.

Gameplay[]

Changes from Project Mirai 2[]

  • Gameplay:
    • The color of the Melody Icons for Button Mode have been changed to the colors for the face buttons on the New Nintendo 3DS. However, the original colors can still be utilized by going into the Customization menu.
    • Note chart patterns have been changed. Consequently, this means that some note charts have more or less Melody Icons from Project Mirai 2.
    • A new difficulty has been added to both Button and Tap Modes called "SUPER Hard". However, only six songs have this difficulty: "SING&SMILE", "Matryoshka", "Romeo and Cinderella", "Invisible", "ARIFURETA SEKAI SEIFUKU", and "1 2 Fan Club".
    • SP notes are no longer counted separately from the graded note count on the results screen.
    • Players can now customize the in-game display, such as changing the size of the Melody Icons, the speed at which the Icons travel, the panel ordering in Tap Mode, and the amount of info that appears on the screen when playing a song.
    • There are new items to use when playing a song similar to the Help and Challenge Items from the Project DIVA series. These items require Nintendo 3DS Play Coins to use.
      • Auto-Spin (5 Play Coins): Automatically spins a rainbow line when hit.
      • Recovery (15 Play Coins): Refills the life gauge when it depletes. The song's score will not be counted when used though.
      • Do or Die (10 Play Coins): Requires players to keep their combo going and gain twice the Mirai Points when the song is cleared. Breaking the combo will result in the song ending early.
      • Special (10 Play Coins): A random SP icon will turn into a "Super SP Marker". A notification will be shown when one is about to be hit and doing so will give bonus Mirai Points when the song is cleard.
      • Role Model (3 Play Coins): An automatic playthrough of the song will be shown, though players will not get any rewards when using it.
  • Outfits:
    • The amount of Mirai Points needed to buy Outfits at the Mirai Mall have been reduced. Song specific Outfits now cost 3000 and special Outfits now cost 10000.
    • GUMI's Outfits now only require players to clear their respective song five times rather than ten.
    • In addition to the Dayo Face returning, the Mikudayo body is now an unlockable Outfit. Dressing up in both the face and body will lead to unlocking Mikudayo herself.
  • PVs:
    • The 2D PVs for some songs now have 3D Nendoroid PVs. "Hello/How are you?" and "glow" are the only songs to retain their PVs since they already use the Nendoroid style. The 2D PV for "Happy Synthesizer", however, can be found in the Options Menu.
    • New Playlists for PVs are included. Up to 2 Playlists can be saved.
    • A new "Jam Along" feature is included, which lets players use sound banks such as drums, audience claps, or the character's vocals to play alongside the song they are currently watching.
    • If the Mikudayo Outfit is used for the "Ageage Again" PV in the Mirai Theater, the PV will change to Mikudayo dancing around the set of the mini-program "Together with Mikudayo!". There is also an alternate version that will randomly play that will show Mikudayo missing her cue almost a minute into the song and the PV ending early.
  • AR Theater:
    • There are now more AR cards for this re-release, which are mostly for songs that now have Nedoroid PVs.
  • Your Room:
    • There are now beach releated event cutscenes that can occur when visiting the Mirai Resort Villa.
    • A new minigame is included in Hang Out Mode called "Mikuversi", which is essentially a game of Reversi.
    • The music player now let's players create up to two playlists of there preferred songs. It also now has a "B-Side" that features BGM from throughout the Project Mirai series.
  • Dance Studio:
    • There are now special cards that use choreography from songs featured in the game.
  • Profile Card:
    • Profile Cards now feature new seasonal backgrounds.
